Brief Course Description
This course introduces students to modes of critical analyses of our contemporary media landscape. Topics range from tech monopolies, net neutrality, fan cultures, fake news, and media policy, and are presented with the goal of fostering media literacy for students engaging with technologies in their everyday lives.

During a time when we briefly went back to remote learning in early 2022, I used zoom breakout rooms for discussion of Marshall McLuhan's The Medium is the Massage, asking students to pull quotes to share with the rest of the class to structure discussion.
As a collaborative assignment for the final section, students were given a study guide to work on in small groups to prepare for the final exam.
